Taking the perfect photo

1

Find a flat, light surface

Place your hand on a plain white or light-colored background — a sheet of paper, a light countertop, or a white towel all work perfectly. Good contrast helps Sophie see every nail clearly.

💡

Natural daylight near a window gives the best lighting. Avoid harsh overhead lights that cast shadows across your fingers.

2

Place a quarter next to your hand

Set a US quarter (25¢ coin) right beside your hand in the same frame. This is Sophie's size reference — without it, she can't accurately calculate your nail widths. Keep the coin flat and fully visible.

💡

No quarter? A Euro coin or similar standard coin works — just let Sophie know which coin you used in your order notes.

3

Spread your fingers and lay your hand flat

Place your dominant hand palm-down with fingers slightly spread. Your hand should be completely flat — no curling, no arching. Think of gently pressing your hand against a cool glass surface.

4

Shoot straight down, as close as possible

Hold your phone directly above your hand and shoot straight down — not at an angle. Get as close as you can while keeping all fingers and the coin in frame. Closer = more detail = better fit.

💡

Turn off portrait mode and HDR if possible. A clean, flat photo is better than an artsy one here.

5

Send both hands if you'd like

Most people's hands are slightly different sizes. If you want the most precise fit possible — especially for a set that spans both hands — send a photo of each hand. Your nails will thank you.

Before you send — quick checklist
Photo is taken straight down (bird's-eye view, not at an angle)
A US quarter is clearly visible in the same frame
Hand is flat, fingers spread, on a light background
All 5 fingers are visible and not overlapping
Photo is in focus and well-lit (no blurry or shadowy shots)
Portrait mode is off — your nails should all be in equal focus

"Every set is made specifically for your hands — and that starts with this one little photo."
